After 40, your body begins to change — often gradually and without symptoms. Metabolism, hormone levels, vascular health, and recovery capacity all shift. That's precisely why this decade is the right time for structured preventive care.
Yes, blood pressure and lipid profiles are part of it. But an isolated LDL value says little. We additionally measure Lp(a), ApoB, and hs-CRP — markers that reflect actual vascular risk far better than the classic lipid panel alone.
An HbA1c of 5.6% is "normal" — but not optimal. Combined with fasting insulin and the HOMA index, we can often detect insulin resistance years before a diabetes diagnosis. This is the moment when lifestyle changes have the greatest effect.
In men, testosterone levels begin declining after 40 — slowly but noticeably: less energy, poorer sleep, increasing waist circumference. In women, hormonal balance often shifts before perimenopause. TSH, fT3, fT4, testosterone (total and free), DHEA-S, and estradiol provide orientation.
Lab values within "normal range" can already be functionally insufficient. A ferritin of 15 µg/l is not "fine" if you're chronically fatigued. We look more carefully.
Colorectal cancer screening (from 50, earlier with family history), skin cancer screening, PSA testing (after individual counselling), mammography for women. The art is avoiding overdiagnosis while not missing anything important.
In our practice, we offer three structured check-up packages: Basic, Premium, and Executive. Each package includes not just lab work and examination, but a thorough medical interpretation of the results.
