Women's health is hormone health. Oestrogen, progesterone, and androgens influence not only the cycle, but also mood, energy, skin, and weight. In my practice, I find that many women struggle with diffuse symptoms whose true cause is hormone imbalance.
Severe headaches, water retention, mood swings, and breast pain just before menstruation are not normal — they are a sign of hormone imbalance. Often a low progesterone relative to oestrogen is the problem, also known as oestrogen dominance.
Irregular periods can have many causes: PCOS (polycystic ovaries), thyroid problems, prolactin excess, or progesterone deficiency. I conduct thorough hormone tests to find the true cause, not just treat symptoms.
Too much oestrogen relative to progesterone leads to weight gain, breast tenderness, headaches, and anxiety. Often the problem is not too much oestrogen, but poor oestrogen excretion. In functional medicine, I optimise oestrogen metabolism.
Perimenopause and menopause are not short-term problems — they are significant biological transitions. Hot flushes, sleep problems, mood problems, and weight gain are common. I offer evidence-based treatment options, from bioidentical hormones to lifestyle measures.
Magnesium, B vitamins, vitamin D, and omega-3 massively influence hormone metabolism. I test these and optimise them specifically. This is especially important in metabolic optimisation for women.
I work with my female patients to understand and optimise their hormone health — with diagnostics, targeted supplementation, lifestyle measures, and if necessary, bioidentical hormones. The result: better energy, better mood, and better quality of life.
